A’Ja Scores 45 In Aces Win

A’ja Wilson Starts the MV’5 Campaign

A’ja Wilson scored 45 points Friday night in Connecticut, and we can officially start the MV’5 campaign.

The Las Vegas Aces improved to 3-1 with a 101-94 win over the Sun, their third straight victory after an ugly opening-night loss to Phoenix. It was not easy. Connecticut pushed, battled, and made Las Vegas work deep into the second half. But when the game needed to be settled, A’ja settled it.

That is why the Aces remain the standard. They do not need everything to look perfect for 40 minutes. They just need the best player in the world to take control when control is required.

Wilson was dominant from the opening tip and carried Las Vegas through the kind of game that could have turned uncomfortable. Connecticut kept hanging around, but A’ja kept answering. Her combination of power, footwork, patience, and touch remains unmatched in the league.

Chennedy Carter also continued her impressive start with the Aces, scoring 18 points and giving Las Vegas another attacking guard who can change the pace of a game. Chelsea Gray added 12 points and 10 assists, while Jackie Young chipped in 13 points.

The Aces are not fully polished yet, but they are already showing the combination that makes them terrifying: A’ja at the height of her powers, Carter adding real juice, Gray still organizing the game, and Young providing her usual two-way steadiness.

Next up, Las Vegas plays at Atlanta on Sunday at 10:30 AM PST.

The campaign has begun.
